In Worthy of Her Trust, Jason Martinkus relates how he repaired his own marriage after revelations of sexual addiction.
At all cost, any man willing to rebuild and restore himself, and take on the responsibility of what may seem like a hopeless situation, in the aftermath of discovery/disclosure of sexual integrity issues, can find hope and experience reconciliation.
Martinkus writes from his own challenges and difficulties in regaining his wife's trust, and states that it is "ultimately worthwhile, With patient, loving, self-sacrificing effort, it's possible that one day your wife will risk her heart with you again."
Jason offers exercises and tools rooted in counseling principles to help marriages, such as; how to be truly and effectively transparent, the five minute phone call, and other daily trust building strategies.
My favorite, the Amends Matrix- a concrete exercise to admit past wrongs and cast a vision for a faithful future.
The book is written from one mans heart to another, professionally, directive, and holding nothing back. Coming from someone who has experienced the near loss of own life and his marriage, desperation of the cycle of addiction, the secrets, isolation, and shame. Jason brings to the open how the power of this addiction can erode and transformation is possible.
I highly recommend and will do so as a must read for the men and women I work with that have an intimacy disorder. I believe this could also be helpful for partners to read. Shelly, Jason's wife has some great insight from her experience and advice to the men reading "Worthy of her Trust."
