Feelings are what they are, neither right nor wrong, it’s what we do with them. Taking the time to intentionally notice and practicing self-care and self preservation to be with whatever shows up is purposeful.
not necessarily a common practice nor easy to apply, easier said than done, than to be with my anger, sadness or anxiety. I appreciate Jack Kornfields take on feelings.
” If you can sit quietly after difficult news, if in financial downturn’s you remain perfectly calm, if you can see your neighbors travel to fantastic places without a twinge of jealousy, if you can happily eat whatever is put on your plate and fall asleep after a day of running around without a drink or a pill, if you can always find contentment where you are , you are probably a dog”
I am welcoming this new year with intention to be more attentive to what I am paying attention to. Honoring the multitude of feelings that show up through out the day. A practice that can feel foreign, for example shame, who wants to sit with that.....and yet sitting with it, allowing it to talk to me, also allows my frontal cortex to stay on board, and be with my wise self, to know what I want and need in the moment, not my knee jerk reaction that may put me in the throws of my fight, flight, freeze, the limbic brain, in that place, I’ve lost the ability to manage and control a healthy outcome. Remember feelings are what they are...SASHET.....sad, angry, scared, happy, empathic and tender....
